Beechcraft 350 Super King Air

Kaduna-Intl Kaduna

On final approach to Kaduna Airport in poor weather conditions, the twin engine aircraft crashed, bursting into flames. The aircraft was totally destroyed by impact forces and a post crash fire. All 11 occupants were killed, among them General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Army. He was returning to Kaduna with a delegation of six other Army officers, among them three Brigadier General. Crew: F/Lt T. Asaniyi, F/Lt A. Olufade, Sgt Adesina, Acm Oyedepo. Passengers: Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru, Br/Gen M. Abdulkadir, Br/Gen Olayinka, Br/Gen Kuliya, Maj Lawal Hayat, Maj Hamza, Sgt Umar.

After takeoff from Abuja-Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, while climbing, the crew informed ATC about an engine failure and was cleared for an immediate return. On final approach to runway 22, the aircraft went out of control and crashed in an open field, bursting into flames. The aircraft was destroyed and all 7 occupants were killed, among them two pilots, four ATOS specialists (Airborne Tactical Observation System) and one technician.

Shortly after takeoff from the Kaduna Military Airfield, while climbing, the aircraft went out of control and crashed into a house located in the Ribadu Cantonment, bursting into flames. All seven occupants (two pilots, two engineers and three passengers) were killed.

Port Harcourt Rivers

After landing at Port Harcourt Airport, the aircraft skidded then veered off runway and came to rest. All 52 occupants were rescued, among them 10 were slightly injured. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair. All passengers were members of the intervention group taking part to a disaster response operation.

Vande Ikya Benue

The twin engine aircraft departed Abuja on a flight to Obudu, carrying 15 passengers and a crew of three. The pilots started the descent in poor weather conditions when the aircraft impacted hilly terrain near Vande Ikya, about 29 km northwest of Obudu. Five occupants were injured while 13 others were killed, among them several high ranking officers who were flying to Obudu to proceed to an inspection of the military equipments. At the time of the accident, the visibility was poor due to low ceiling.

While approaching Warri Airport runway 06 following an uneventful flight from Benin City, the twin engine aircraft entered an uncontrolled descent and crashed near a refinery located near Jeddo, about 11 km west of the airport. All six occupants were killed, among them five Nigerian Army Officers.

During the takeoff roll, the aircraft went out of control, veered off runway and came to rest in a ditch. All 10 occupants escaped uninjured while the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.

The crew was completing a local training flight at Kaduna-New Kaduna Airport. On final approach, the pilot-in-command lost control of the airplane that nosed down and crashed in a field located 3 km short of runway. All three crew members were killed.

Just after liftoff, while in initial climb, two engines lost power simultaneously then failed. The crew elected to find a suitable area for an emergency landing when a third engine failed. The aircraft stalled, entered a nose down attitude and crashed in a swampy area near the airport. All 159 occupants were killed, among them military personnels from Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Civilians were also among the passengers.

The airplane was completing a special flight from Lagos to São Tomé, carrying a Nigerian delegation comprising Government officials, Army officers and journalists. En route, the crew encountered poor weather conditions. While cruising in thunderstorm activity, the airplane went out of control, entered a dive and crashed into the sea (Gulf of Guinea) few km off Forcados. None of the 30 occupants survived the crash.

Landed hard at Lagos-Ikeja Airport for unknown reasons. There were no casualties but the aircraft was irreparable.
