The pilot was performing a mail flight from Billings, Montana, to Cheyenne, Wyoming, with intermediate stops in Sheridan and Casper. While cruising in poor weather conditions, he decided to reduce his altitude to maintain a visual contact with the ground. Eventually, the single engine aircraft hit a hill located 21 kilometers south from Glendo, killing the pilot.
