On January 31, 1958 at 03:05 PM, Rankin Inlet – Chesterfield Inlet experienced a crash involving Noorduyn Norseman, operated by Transair Canada, with the event recorded near Chesterfield Inlet Nunavut.

The wreckage was found by an RCMP constable on his annual patrol about 30 minutes after the accident occurred. The aircraft was demolished and the four occupants were seriously injured.
